To mark #GivingTuesday we launched our ‘Terrific 10’ campaign – we want to get at least 10 new regular donors signed up by the end of 2014 so we can give more terrific young people like Isaac an education.
Isaac is about to graduate with a BA in Business Administration from Kabale University, Uganda. Rafiki Thabo started supporting his education in 2010. Isaac writes:
‘Before I came across Rafiki Thabo, my education was at a standstill and I had lost all hope of continuing to study. I felt like I was locked in a box and had no way of escaping. I had lost both my parents and was in my village doing nothing. Then Rafiki started sponsoring me and I was able to go to school – and then university. I never imagined that I would make it to university but here I am!
Rafiki has had a great impact on my life. It has brought light into my brain. I volunteer at a local school in my spare time. I plan to use the skills I have gained at university to help others. When I graduate, I am hoping to start up a project to help orphans and street kids – because I am an orphan and would probably have become a street kid if Rafiki hadn’t stepped in.’
Do something terrific: sign up for a monthly direct debit now and become one of our terrific 10! You can either complete this Standing Order form or click on the ‘donate’ button below.
Any amount you can pledge to give will make a huge difference to people like Isaac who have the potential to go far and work to improve their communities – if only they are given the opportunity to do so.
A few closing words from Isaac: ‘I thank all the supporters of Rafiki – I regard them all as my parents as they are making my life better. Thank you so much!’
Tuesday December 2nd was #GivingTuesday – a global movement to create an international day of giving. Rafiki Thabo Foundation is proud to be a #GivingTuesday partner.
