We are delighted to announce that we are merging with another Oxfordshire-based small charity, ACACIA UK. Like us, ACACIA are passionate about empowering young people through education. ACACIA operates in Kenya and their vision is that every child in Africa enjoys a high quality education that embraces their differing abilities and their mission is to lift barriers to education for girls and boys in East Africa to enable them to reach their full potential. These are very much in line with our vision and mission.
ACACIA’s work has a specific focus on supporting children living with disabilities. During a visit to Kenya in 2017, our committee told us they would like us to support more children living with disabilities – so when this partnership opportunity arose we were so excited as this is precisely what the merger will enable us to do.
As well as supporting a group of street children through school, ACACIA also work through three Kenyan partners: the Autism Society of Kenya, Macheo Children’s Centre and AIC Kadjiado, to deliver enhanced educational opportunities to the disable children they support. We are looking forward to continuing to work in partnership with these organisations.
